O'Ranch 2021
O'Ranch 2021
Vincent’s ode to the local unicorns. Juicy, pithy skin-macerated field blend of varietals from a little half hectare parcel. All three varietals are picked and fermented together as whole bunches for 3 months in amphora. After 3 months on skins, the grapes are dug out of the amphora with buckets, and pressed extremely gently, by hand, through a colander-style hand press. This rarely seen technique reduces the extraction of tannins, keeping the wine easier to drink. Low tannin, high acid, all fun.

A 40-hectare estate, fully organic since 2013. The 8th generation to work at the estate; Vincent Alexis joined his father in 2010 and talked him into bottling their own wines instead of selling them for bulk blending. 25ha are white. Vincent has recently planted lots more traditional grape varieties, Sulphur is only used on bottling for the Bergecrac Blanc and the Monbazillac. Soils are clay on limestone with iron and flint in the Pecharmant vineyards.
