Bat Nat 2021
Bat Nat 2021
Fizzy red Bat Juice. Need we say more?
In case we do . . . Lots going on, as always with 2Naturkinder: cranberry, red apple, watermelon skin, eucalyptus, quince, cinnamon. Multi-purpose bubbles fit for every occasion.
In 2014, Michael and Melanie took over a colleague’s Müller-Thurgau vineyard, which had a hut in the middle of it. A local conservationist, Christian Söder, thought looked like a perfect home for bats. Several bat-boxes were installed. The guano (bat shat) is sold as fertiliser. And a share of the revenue goes back to protection of bat habitats. The label shows the rare grey long-eared bat.

From shell limestone, (Keuper) soils. 50% of the berries crushed (after destemming) and the other 50% are macerated with their skins on for 48 hours before pressing. Left for 8 months in bottle, and then disgorged.
Michael and Melanie left their corporate jobs behind and started making wine in Michael’s parents’ winery in 2013. After discovering their taste for natural wine, they converted the 6 hectare vineyard to organic practices. They've developed a repertoire of wild delights which are hand-harvested, indigenous-yeasts vinification without sulphur and unfiltered. As well as their natural range, they also make wines with purchased grapes which are very lightly sulphured and filtered for a slightly different market.
