A return to Germany for Sophie Evans. An aromatic, textural delight, with bags of pure fruit and lively acidity. Beautiful stuff and clean as a whistle.

Sophie spent a week helping her friend Emily Campeau of Wein Goutte with harvest, and picked herself a few rows of Domina and Muller Thurgau to make a Rotling - a rosé of these red and white varieties. (In Germany rosés are only allowed to be labelled as such when produced from red grapes exclusively, so they coined the term Rotling for these outlaw red/white blends.) With the two varieties growing side by side at Wein Goutte, Sophie felt it made sense to keep them together, trying to capture that special feeling of the parcel.
