A sozzled sketchbook #2

#2, ALICE BOWSHER

Alice Bowsher is an illustrator living and working in London.

She creates simple and playful imagery with quick spontaneous marks.

Lockdown must've had us feeling generous when we were passing neighbours and regulars at a safe-distance, because local illustrator & all-round great gal Alice Bowsher was flung a bottle of Rietsch Tout Blanc in late Spring too.

We asked her to see what drinking a litre of Alsatian white would do before putting pen to paper. Alice works mostly in black ink, but filled sketchbooks during lockdown with her observations at home in an assortment of media.

We asked her how she landed on such an evocative, energetic drawing to represent the wine:

"During the deepest darkest lockdown, I really missed drinking out with friends and whilst drinking the Tout Blanc that’s what I tried to convey through the drawings. The energy and excitement of getting drunk on something tasty with your mates."
